Education Minister appeals guardians to enrol their wards in Govt schools

Maintaining that refurbishing of Government schools is underway, Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen has called on guardians who love to see their wards get right education to admit them in Government schools.
The Minister made the call yesterday during a felicitation programme of meritorious students of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency who cleared the Class XII examination 2020 conducted by COHSEM.
The State Government has initiated due measures to improve the overall quality of education being provided in Government run schools, said the Minister.
The measures include keeping a close eye on the performance and diligence of the teachers and other restructuring works, he said.
Rajen further said that the State Government has submitted a project to the Central Government to materialise the required renovation works of the schools under RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) and RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan) schemes.
Parents or guardians sending their wards to private schools without considering the high expenditure involved, has resulted into the growth of drop out rate significantly, he said while stressing on the need of redeveloping schools run by the State Government.
Since the revamp process is on, he appealed to parents to have some faith in Government and enrol their wards to Government schools.
Education sector, which is one of the indispensable sectors, was going backward, during previous Governments, however the BJP-led NDA Government has introduced New Education Policy 2020 (NEPJ to bring forth the sector and help scale a new height, he continued.
From providing both education and right nutrition to students in primary level to ensuring education to all adults, every measure is listed and has been initiated under the NEP 2020, he continued.
Adding that realising the goals of NEP 2020 depends on the role of teachers community, the Minister also appealed to social workers in the Assembly Segment to make assessment of the conditions of the Government schools and report it to the concerned department to do the required renovation or refurbishing.
Soraisham Kebi who attended the felicitation programme as the guest of honour, recalled hard times she faced while she was a student and expressed gratefulness for being able to encourage the students from different backgrounds.
She also assured all possible assistance to students in need from her end.
The felicitation programme was also attended by Adhyaksha of Imphal West ZP, RK Taruni Devi and Pradhan of Mongshangei GP, Sinam Ongbi Nandeshwori Devi as presidium members.
