Imphal, June 06 2016:
Altogether 15 runners of pharmacies and clinical laboratories located outside RIMS campus were pulled up by RIMS security personnel from inside the hospital campus today.
RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof M Amuba said that pharmacies located outside RIMS campus have been selling drugs to patients inside RIMS campus through their runners for a prolonged period.
Not only pharmacies, even clinical laboratories have been sending in their runners to persuade patients/patient parties to come to their respective aboratories for laboratory tests even though the same facilities are available at RIMS.
These runners have been even collecting blood samples.
If any patient is recommended to undergo laboratory tests outside RIMS campus when the same facility is available at RIMS, disciplinary action can be initiated against the particular doctors, Prof Amuba said.
To check infiltration by runners of pharmacies and clinical laboratories, a drive was carried out today and 15 runners were pulled up, he added.
