Imphal, October 04 2011:
Certain sections of the people of Ngaikhong Khullen and Ngaikhong Siphai have asserted that MLA Dr I Ibohalbi was never boycotted in their villages.
Speaking to media persons at Ngaikhong Siphai mandop/community hall today, Ngaikhong Siphai Development Committee chairman L Deben and Self Help Group cashier M Bala said that there was a case of destruction of a house following a quarrel.
Though the local Pradhan made all efforts to bring the two quarrelling parties to an understanding, but the issue remains unsolved.
Taking advantage of this situation, one aspiring candidate incited some people to block the MLA Ibohalbi's way so that he could not participate in the camera meeting held yesterday, Deben and Bala said.
Police only drove away the people squatting on the road by firing some tear gas shells but they did not beat any one.
They further declared that they would support Dr I Ibohalbi's in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
