Imphal, July 26 2020:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Jiribam has categorically stated that allowing non locals to enter the State at this point of time by issuing ILP is very unfortunate.
A press release signed by the convenor of JCILPS, Jiribam, Yurembam Sanjiv said that resuming issuance of ILP to outsiders has created a panicky situation in the State as number of COVID-19 patients continues to grow alarmingly across the country.
Stating that Manipur which was once declared a green zone is affected severely by the pandemic, the committee claimed that the virus was brought into the State by Manipuris returning from different States.
It then demanded the State Government to revoke the order issued on July 20 for resuming issuance of the ILP at the earliest.
On the other hand, the Development and Protection United Voluntary Organisation (DPUVO), Nambol and Nambol Apunba Nupi Lup have asked the State Government to stop issuing Inner Line Permit to non-locals at the earliest.
A press release issued by the secretary of DPUVO, Th Lamjingba said that issuing ILP to outsiders at a time when there is a fear of community transmission in the State is very contradictory to the efforts put by the Government to defeat the pandemic.
He then urged the State Government to revoke the order issued on July 20 to resume issuing ILP to non-locals.
The Yurembam Apunba Club (YAC) also said that resuming issuance of ILP to people from other States at this point of time is very unfortunate and asked the State Government to do the needful at the earliest.
The club further urged the Government to check non-locals, particularly those without proper documents (ILP or labour card), loitering in public places.
