Imphal, July 26 2020:
Reacting to demand for pay by teachers of some Catholic schools, the All Manipur Catholic Union (AMCU) has appealed all concerned to wait for an amicable solution to the pay issue currently under negotiation between the Government and the United Association of Recognised Schools of Manipur (UARSoM) .
Stating that everybody is being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the union claimed that understanding the problems and difficulties of the teachers, authorities of Mission schools have paid the teachers' salary upto April (in full) and May (half) .
The money the schools get from admission is not meant only for teachers' salary.
There are many other expenditures in the form of infrastructure development, maintenance and repairs of school properties, gifts and prizes, legal expenses etc.
The teachers concerned should understand the private schools have no other source of income except the school fees which are collected instalment-wise, it said, calling on all concerned to bear one another's burden during the pandemic.
