To promote quality education and ensure undisturbed academic calendar a body called, 'Human Resource Development Committee DPP' will be formed under SPF Government alliance partner Democratic People's Alliance.
Addressing mediapersons at State Guest House this afternoon, DPA president Kh Mani said RK Anand and Y Khemchand will be the chairman and vice chairman of the committee respectively with LC Somorendro and P Premchand as the secretary and joint secretary respectively.
Kh Mani further said DPA which also has its party MLA Dr T Meinya as MoS (Higher & Technical Education) will keep a strict watch on functioning of State Education Department to make it a corruption free department.
Besides endeavours to eradicate the department of all ills, the committee will also promulgate measures to maintain academic calendar which the DPA leader remarked as a vital component to ensure quality education in the State.
Reports collected by the Committee will be put forwarded to the Government for implementation; he said adding that the steps will be taken to chalk out a long lasting education policy.
Government will be pressurized to establish a separate High Court of the State to expedite justice, in addition to upgrading sports department to a major department and to include education under essential service to uphold the interest of the students, he said.
Taking part at the programme, Minister Dr T Meinya narrated that solving the various problems afflicting Education Department will be a major challenge.
The Minister also said that soon after assuming charge as the MoS (Higher & Technical Education), he is confronted with problems like demands for conversion of Biramangol College into a full fledged Government institution, appointment of Director of Education (U) and strikes of both the Manipur University teachers.
Reiterating party commitment to maintain academic calendar, the Minister said top most priority will be given on the matter.
Regarding responsibilities of teachers to promote quality education, Dr Meinya said his second priority will to constitute a.committee to check and monitor functioning of the teachers.
