Governor Ved Marwah, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Works Minister Gaikhangam greeted the people of the State especially the Christian brethren on the auspicious and joyous occasion of Christmas.
In his message Governor Ved Marwah said, "in celebrating the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God - born to rebuild a new world order based on equality of mankind, we not only pay our obeisance to an outstanding apostle of peace, we also rededicate ourselves to the ideals, principles and eternal values espoused by Him".
"His message of love, mercy, forgiveness, benevolence, compassion and sacrifice is of great relevance for bringing people together cutting across the caste, creed, community and religion".
He added, "let the principles upheld by Him guide mankind to build a more prosperous and peaceful society on forgive and forget".
The Chief Minister in his message described the festival as the greatest event for the Christians and a significant moment for all mankind.
His message read, "in the birth of Lord Jesus, the world was blessed with the message of love and compassion.
Jesus advocated goodwill and love among mankind.
He gave us the message of brotherhood and feeling for the under-privilege".
Underlining the importance of the festival, the Chief Minister said, "the festival is of particular significance today in a world that is divided on many lines.
Onset of Christmas can provide the opportunity for peace and reconciliation".
Works Minister Gaikhangam in his message said, "let the celebration of holy Christmas and New Year usher in a divine peace and give us a new reason for better and prosperous future".
Brigadier EJ Kochekkan, DIG Manipur Range, Assam Rifles has extended warmest greeting to the people of the State on the occasion.
The DIG in his message expressed hope that X-mas would promote brotherhood adding this may be an occasion to share our joy with every one especially those who are less fortunate.
