Police today dispersed the large numbers of rallyists who came to participate in the protest rally.
The rally organized by the JAC against brutal murder of Kumari Mayengbam Sumatibala Devi today began at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai.
The JAC today condemned the police action.
The JAC today said in a press statement that the action shows that the government is trying to protect the perpetrators of the gruesome killing of the woman.
The JAC had planned a silent rally and to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi it said.
After the police disallowed the silent peaceful rally some representatives went to the CM's house and submitted a memorandum.
The delegate informed the Chief Minister that they suspect the two persons who have surrendered to the police.
The CM appealed to the delegates to wait for three four days so that he could find out the truth behind the incident.
A meeting was called at Tongbram Leikai Meira Shang and it decided to boycott the government if the government fails to come out with the truth.
It decided to call bandh, blockades if the government does not fulfill its promise.
Mayengbam Sumatibala Devi 37, who is residing alone at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai, was brutally murdered on the night of December 14.She lost her parents in her childhood.
She is the fourth child among the six sisters, four married and the last sister unmarried presently boarding at Gospel for Asia Training centre, Langol.
The JAC was formed the next day.
Large numbers of clubs and organizations protested the killing and the matter became a state issue it said.
Three persons surrendered and another 60 years old woman and her son of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai surrendered on Dec 19 and 21 respectively.
