Imphal, December 11:
A 19 year old youth was hurt and five other civilians had a narrow escape yesterday when the 19th Rajput Rifles and a militant group clashed between New Pangsang and Tuilumjang villages, about 35 kilometres from here around 12 noon, sources said.
The six persons were porters for the army who were moving towards Tuilumjang village, it added.
The injured person, Jangmang Touthang s/o Holkholun Touthang suffered bullet wounds on both the legs and is recuperating at the District Hospital here.
At least two army personnel were killed in the clash while the casualty on the UG side is not known, a source added.
Social work held: Various philanthropic organizations of Churachandpur district today organized a social work to cleanse the town under the aegis of Joint Philanthropic Organisation (JPO).
Hundreds of volunteers from various communities filled the potholes on the major roads in the town, cleared the nullahs of debris and cleanse the District Hospital here.
