The proscribed UNLF has appealed to the people of Manipur, especially the meira paibis to extend their help and cooperation to the outfit in its fight against the Indian security force.
In a statement issued to the press today, the outfit said that though the MPA cadres are putting up a brave fight against the much bigger Indian security force, the onset of winter has inconvenienced the cadres a lot.
The UNLF is yet to progress to that point where it can use vehicles have access to endless supply of clothes and other necessities unlike the Indian army.
In the hills, the winter is severe and to help the cadres fight off the biting cold, the UNLF has appealed to all, especially meira paibis, to donate warm clothings and also money, whichever is more convenient.
To rehabilitate the villagers displaced by the fight between the Indian security force and the MPA, the UNLF has also appealed to humanitarian relief organisations, not only from Manipur but also from the international community to help the displaced villagers.
The time has come for all to shed all organisation wise outlooks or community divides but to fight unitedly, said UNLF.
The outfit also reiterated that ever since the Indian security force launched its offensive in October there have been 17 skirmishes between the security personnel and the MPA.
Till date 75 Indian security personnel have been killed while over 70 have, been injured, claimed the statement.
On the side of the MPA till date two have laid down their lives in the course of the fight while 3 have been injured.
Asking the people to be aware of the machinations of the security personnel, UNLF said that under the immunity granted by AFSPA, many Manoramas have been raped and killed while many Sanamachas have disappeared after they were picked up.
People should also not forget the massacres of RIMS, Heirangoithong, Tonsen Lamkhai, Malom, Oinam etc.
