A one-day health mela was organised under the aegis of Meeyamgee Chaokhat Thourang Lup (MCT-Lup), Wangjing-Lamding at Royal Academy, Wangjing Lamding today.
The health mela held as part of the IEC scheme of Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry was sponsored by AYUSH (Ayurved, Yoga, Unani, Shidha, Homeopathy) Dept of the Ministry.
MLA Dr M Nara Singh inaugurated the mela as chief guest and MCT-Lup president M Kulachandra Singh as functional president.
CMO Thoubal Dr Ksh Manglem Singh and DFO Thoubal Dr Kh Radheshyam Singh also graced the occasion as guests of honour.
In all, 15 stalls which were related to herbal medicine and treatment were on display over and above six others which were related to treatment of Leprosy and HIV/AIDS.
Facilities for free treatment and medical check up were also provided to the people.
Around 500 people suffering from various ailments availed the facilities.
As part of the health mela, a yoga demonstration and ballet on leprosy awareness were also performed.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Nara gathered the gathering that Union Health Minister Ambu Mani Ramadosa has given approval for setting up a Homeopathy Medical College in Manipur.
Process is already underway for acquiring around 30 acres of land near the Martyrs� Park at Khongjom for setting up the college.
Arrangements are also being made for setting up a herbarium within the college complex, the MLA informed.
Naturopathy: Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy Research Centre, Changangei Makha Leikai in association with National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, Dept of AYUSH, Govt of India, would be organising a 2-day naturopathy awareness programme at Keithelmanbi in Sadar Hills on Nov 12 and 13.Experts/doctors would be impart thorough knowledge on system of ancient Indian medical system like yoga, treatment through fruits, herbs, etc during the programme.
