Imphal, November 11:
It was a day of nostalgia and walking down memory lanes as those gathered at GM Hall today to pay tributes to the late NK Sanajaoba on his death anniversary recounted the pioneering role played by the revolutionary during his chequered life.
Organised by the Lamyanba Yaolloi NK Sanajaoba Memorial Observation Committee, many turned up at the memorial function held today at GM Hall to share their thoughts and recall the time they spent with the late revolutionary.
Floral tributes were paid to the photo of Sanajaoba to show their respect to the departed soul.
Former organising president of the Manipur Cultural Integrity Conference Prof Gangmumei Kamei attended the memorial function as the chief guest while the president of the Lamyanba Yaolloi NK Sanajaoba Memorial Observation Committee Nongmaithem Pahari presided.
Prominent Naga leader and former YAS and TD Minister RV Mingthing and social worker Thangcha attended as guests of honour.
The function kicked off with all the present, including those on the dais paying floral tributes to the photo of Sanajaoba.
A two minute silence was observed to pray for the departed soul amid the rendering of trumpets.
Addressing the gathering Prof Gangmumei Kamei said that Sanajaoba was a true son of the soil, who put the love for his mother land above everything else.
As a journalist too, Sanajaoba was a pioneer, said Prof Kamei and added that with his brand of fearless journalism and writings, Sanajaoba was able to instil a sense of anti-colonialism in the minds of the youth.
Hailing Sanajaoba as a pioneering figure in fighting for the cause of the people and for working towards the betterment of the people, so that they may live as an independent entity, Prof Kamei said the services and contributions of Sanajaoba should be etched in history.
His bravery and commitment to the cause of the people is worth emulating, he observed.
N Pahari who was closely associated with Sanajaoba said that the late man was a multi-faceted personality who did all he could for his motherland.
He donned different roles for the sake of his land and people, said Pahari.
It is time for the people to learn more about the pioneering figure so that the stated goal and objectives of the people are realised, exhorted Pahari.
