Imphal, November 11:
The employees of the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation, who have retired from services under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme, have complained that they have not been paid their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for more than a year.
Talking to The Sangai Express, some of the aggrieved retired employees informed that around 100 employees of Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation took retirement from service under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme of the Central Government.
As per the rules, the retired employees are entitled to get the amount of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), which had been deducted from their monthly salary, within two months of retirement from service.
But the EPF amount of the employees have been held up and not given to the employees even after more than a year, they alleged.
Decrying the indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned towards their plight, the hapless retired employees lamented that they were not paid monthly salary on a regular basis while they were in service and now their EPF have been held up.
Apart from denying the EPF, the Corporation is unable to give the exact figure of the amount to be given to the retired employees, they alleged.
It is the responsibility of the Managing Director and AO of the Corporation and the EPF Dept to release the required EPF amount to the retired employees, they added.
