Imphal, March 11 2017:
With not a single political party getting enough seats in the 11th State Legislative Assembly election to form the next Government, a coalition Government in the State is the answer.
The election witnessed a close fight between Congress and its arch rival BJP.
The two parties had claimed that they would form the next Government.
As Congress won 28 seats out of the total 60, the party may stake claim to form the next Government.
However, the party needs to go for alliance with other political parties.
On the other hand, BJP which emerged as the second single largest party by winning 21 seats in the election has to go with those political parties which are in alliance with NDA Government at the Centre to form the next Government in the State.
Notably, Naga People's Front (NPF) and National People's Party (NPP) which won 4 seats each and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) which got one seat are in alliance with NDA Government at the Centre.
This implies that Congress would not be able to form the next Government even if the party goes with All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) which got 1 seat and an Independent.
According to are liable source, Congress has already started lobbying to go with NPP and AITC to form the Government.
If NPP declines the offer, Congress would be in a dilemma as far as forming the next Government is concerned.
At the same time, BJP would also face difficulty in forming the next Government if it cannot go with NPP and NPF.
Meanwhile, general secretary of BJP State unit, MLA Th Biswajit who has been elected from Thongju Assembly Constituency claimed that BJP would lead in forming the next Government even though the party has not got enough seats.
The MLA was speaking to media persons while coming to collect certificate for winning the election.
There is already BJP Government in Assam.
Time has come for BJP rule in the North East, he asserted.
Stating that people of Manipur want all round development and growth, he revealed that the party has held talks with NPP, LJP and others to form a stable Government which they agreed.
He informed that National leaders of BJP will be coming to the State soon to elect legislative leaders of the party of the State.
Any decision taken by leaders of BJP will be followed strictly, Biswajit added.
It may be mentioned that BJP spokesperson, N Biren who has been elected from Heingang Assembly Constituency had said that BJP will go with like-minded parties if the party fails to get required seats in the election.
