Imphal, March 11 2017:
Observing that Holi is not an entertaining festival meant only for young men and women, Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) appealed to the people to celebrate the festival for three days only.
In a press note, IPAK urged the people to refer sports as the main event of the festival instead of encouraging colouring each other and seeking money in the name of the festival.
It also appealed to the people to organise Thabal only in evening not late in the night.
The association said making loud noise by using loudspeakers and drumbeats is the not the proper way to celebrate a religious festival.
Considering all the facts, it is high time to have a threadbare discussion on whether people should celebrate Holi or not, it asserted.
Saying that Water Festival celebrated in Myanmar from April 14 to 16 has reached Imphal, Moirang and Kakching, the association said it would not allow the celebration of the festival in any part of the State.
