6 killed in mishap

Imphal, March 11 2017:
At least six people were killed in a mishap last night as the Shaktiman truck they were travelling turned turtle in between Loilamkot and S Nabil village in Henglep sub-division, while 7 others also suffered varying degrees of injuries, reports our CCpur correspondent.
The truck carrying wood logs is said to have offloaded several of its occupants into another truck prior to meeting the fateful mishap avoiding additional casualty, sources said adding the deaths are caused mainly by the heavy logs as the iron chains used to hold them snapped as a result of the impact it suffered during the mishap.
Three of the deceased identified as Lamneithem, 13; Lunminlal, 11; and Tingneilhing, 48 are from the same family.
The first two are children of Thangneh of Bolkot while the third was his spouse and the mother of the deceased kids.Upa Paolen of Bolkot also lost two sons Johnson, 9 and Kamminlun, 7 in the mishap while his 46 yearsold wife and three sons aged23,12 and 14 suffered injuries.
The other deceased has been identified as truck driver Thangzahau alias Haopu, 27 son of (L) Ngamsei of M Gangpijang village.
The four others injured in the mishap are from Bolkot and Mata Lambulane.
All the deceased were brought to the KKL complex last night by KKL volunteers while the injured were brought to the district hospital for treatment by an ambulance owned by the KKL.
The fateful truck bearing registration number MN02 - 9527 is reportedly owned by one Md Heladdin of Kwakta.
