Works being undertaken under the NREGS in the State have been inspected by a team of the Aam Admi ka Sipahi at different places in Imphal East district today.
The inspection drive was undertaken under the aegis of the District Youth Congress Committee, Imphal East.
The team inspected the road cutting work from Poiroutongba to Kaina tourist centre, a distance of 3 kms under Tulihal GP of Andro A/C.The team was led by State Youth Congress Committee president L Tilotama and Imphal East District Youth Congress Committee Md Alam.
They also inspected other NREGS works like ground levelling, irrigation canal under Tulihal GP, road side drainage along the road from Yairipok Ningthounai to Idiga under Yambem GP and also other works being undertaken under the scheme in Keirao Bitra.
Tilotama said that the group Aam Admi Ka Sipahi was set up to check whether the welfare schemes taken up by the Government, particularly the NREGS are reaching the people at grassroots level or not.
She further invited all vigilant citizens to take help of the RTI if there is any case of not implementing the scheme or violating its guidelines.
Saying that a report of the inspection drive will be submitted to both the Central and State Governments, Tilotama said that so far the manner of implementing the NREGS has been found satisfactory.
The inspection drive will continue in other districts too, she added.
