NORTH EAST Traditional Costume show was organized on the second day of Octave � 2008 Northeast Festival to showcase and promote the traditional dresses and ornaments of different communities of the North East Region.
The OCTAVE '2008 � Costume Show is organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur.
Altogether 24 couples from North East region viz; three couples each from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura presented their traditional dresses and ornaments.
Their traditional costumes include the multi-colour shawls, spear, ceremonial daos, colourful armlets, bracelets, Headgear, armlets, etc.
and varied dresses from traditional to the contemporary.
The Show was followed by Folk Dance Presentation of eight member States of Northeast with impressive variety of folk dances.
"One art form each was presented by the member States showcasing their rich cultural heritage through the medium of respective indigenous dance forms," a release received here stated.
