Imphal, October 07 2011:
The Chil Chil Asian Mission Society (CHAMS) has condemned the CRPF Post located at Leikhampokpi village for not extending co-operation to the villagers at the time of need.
According to a press release, some armed persons threatened and chased the students of Chil Chil Theological Seminary by firing gunshots.
The students had been to the area to work at the Society's farmland at Leikhampokpi on September 24 last.
The panicked students took refuge at the nearby CRPF Post and pleaded them for help, it said and added the CRPF personnel instead of helping the students asked them to run away from the farm.
The press release claimed that CHAMS was set up in 1990 by acquiring 100 acres of land at the village.
However, the seminary had to shut down in 1993 due to Naga-Kuki conflict, it added.
Later, the press release said, CHAMS donated 50 acres of its land to CRPF for setting up of a Post in order to maintain peace and order in the area.
As the Post does not serve its purpose, CHAMS added, the Post must be shifted from the current location so that the area may be handed over to other armed forces.
