Sainik School celebrates Raising Day

Sainik School, Imphal celebrated the 40th Raising Day with great zeal and enthusiasm today.
57 Mountain Division GOC Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, and Chairman, LBA Sainik School, Imphal presided over the function, said a press release issued by PIB (DW).
The celebrations started with wreath laying and floral tributes to the martyrs.
A variety of entertainment programmes and games were conducted for the general employees of the school in recognition of their invaluable contribution.
The special feature of the programme was a power-point presentation of rare photographs taken since inception of the school in 1971 .
Annie Poonnen, the first lady of 57 Mountain Division gave away prizes to the lady winners in games while the chief guest gave away prizes to the gentlemen.
The chief guest also gave away awards for the best Cadet in various disciplines.
Best in academics went to Cadet Parikshit Thoudam of Raman House, best in sports to Cadet Ansar Mustafa of Raman House, Anwar also won the gold medal in the 12th National Junior and Sub-Junior Muaythai Boxing Championship 2011 in the 40-42 kg category, held at Bangaluru, Cadet Parikshit for Co-curricular activities, Cadet Miranda for winning prizes in the Eastern India Science Fair 2011 National Science Seminar 2011 and Cadet Manoranjan, the award for the best cadet in discipline, drill and NCC.
In his address, the Officiating Principal mentioned various outstanding achievements of the school in academics, co-curricular activities, games, sports, as also the prestigious Defence Ministry trophy for the year 2010-11; for sending maximum number of Cadets to NDA.
He complimented the Cadets and thanked the parents and State Government for their wholehearted support, and advised the Cadets and staff to strive towards making the school a centre of excellence in the North East and the entire country.
Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, complimented the school for excelling in every field of activity.
Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen exhorted the Cadets to work hard with dedication and sincerity of purpose for accomplishment of their goals.
Maj Gen Binoy assured all present that he will look into the requirement of the school for achieving higher goals in the coming days.
