It is the foremost duty of today's generation to impart perfect education to the children.
Otherwise time will be running out to save the Manipuri society from the verge of extinction, asserted state education minister, L Jayentakumar who spoke as chief guest at the 39th installation ceremony of the Rotary Club of Imphal at Mantripukhri today.
The minister observed that the underdeveloped state of the society witness today is the result of lack of taking initiatives in imparting primary education to the children while stressing the need of imparting quality education from the primary level.
As a result of violent incidents in the state without a day break, people are keeping in a chaotic situation.
The society has two sections of people.
One section is working for the upliftment of the society to bring forward to development while the other is indulging in the destruction of the society, he said bewaring the people from the destroyers.
Keeping in view of the need for imparting quality education to the students, a new education policy has been drafted and ready for implementation, Jayentakumar said adding that the the new policy, no exam for the Standard-X will be conducted.
But a thorough study to whether students of the state could be adopted with the new policy and will able to compete at the global level is still necessary.
The matter is a headache one in the government too, he said.
In the installation ceremony, attended by Rotarian Dr Ksh Chourjit, Dr M Modhumangol, Dr Radheshyam Oinam and M Monoranjan, the minister also released a souvenir of the club entitled "Mani Padma".
The club also distributed Sagolsem Indramani Memorial Rotary Scholarship to two students apart from conferring Akham Ibochouba Memorial Award to police personnel S Rahman recognizing his outstanding duty.
