Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Unit today sought support from the people of the state for positive response to the countywide dawn-to-dusk bandh called against price-rise.
Bharatiya Jananta Party (BJP) and other opposition parties of the country have announced the 12-hour bandh all over the country tomorrow which would be effective from 6 am till 6pm in protest against the hike of prices of petroleum products by a decision of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.
Asserting that the increase of the prices of petroleum products will ultimately lead to the rising of the prices of essential commodities, state unit president Sh Santikumar today appealed to the people to support the bandh.
Recalling that the bandh would be the second time called by opposition parties in the country against the price rise, he reiterated that bandh will commence from 6 am tomorrow till 6 pm.
The president also appealed for people's cooperation during the visit of opposition leader Shusma Swaraj and her team in the state to take stock of the situation of the state in the aftermath of the prolonged economic blockade on the national highways.
He also announced slight changes in the visit programme of team to be slated from July 8 and said that the public meeting would be organised at GM Hall Imphal on the same day of arrival of the team in Imphal.
On the next day, the visiting team will meet representatives of civil societies which would be followed by a briefing with the media persons before leaving Imphal for New Delhi, he added.
