Police foil exam disruption bid

Despite a protest demonstration and locking of NG College gate by some students and people of Naoremthong Takhellambam Leikai and adjoining localities, the 4th semester examination of BA/BSc/BCom went on una-ffected under tight security today.
Earlier uncertainty prevailed at the college as some students and locals locked the main gate a few minutes before the start of the exami- nation.
However, a team of Lamphel police arrived at the college and broke the locks to allowing the candidates to enter the college campus.
After some time, a large number of women of Naorem-thong Takhellambam Leikai and nearby areas gathered near the college and tried to march towards the college gate to disrupt the examination.
However, the examination went on unaffected till the end as police prevented the protesters from marching towards the college gate.
Speaking to reporters, a woman said that her ward could not appear in the examination at DM College due to a protest demonstration.
However, the examination went on at NG College under the strict vigil of security personnel.
She said that the Government needs to make an arrangement for the students who could not appear in the examination due to protest demonstrations.
She also said that they would not allow to hold any examination at NG College from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, demanding the release of students who were arrested in the course of ILPS agitation, CC Higher Secondary School students took out a protest demonstration from the school gate today.
After police prevented the protesters from crossing Sanjenthong, they marched towards the City Convention road, crossed the Yairipok to Wangkhei road and returned back to the school.
The students attempted to burn an effigy of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi during their march but was prevented by the police.
