ATCAM urges abductors of AS Wungmatem

The All Tribal Chiefs' Association, Manipur (ATCAM) has appealed the abductors of AS Wungmatem, Headman of Rangui (Tungou) village under Chingai AC in Ukhrul district who was reportedly abducted on January 30 in connection with the recently concluded Assembly election for his immediate release.
According to report received by the ATCAM, AS Wungmatem, Headman of Rangui village was abducted by some unknown miscreants from his home on January 30 at 1.30 am in connection with the 10th Assembly election and his whereabouts unknown since then, President of ATCAM, AS Shimreisang (Ashang Siro) stated in a release.
Asserting that AS Wungmatem is an active member of the association, Ashang Siro maintained that he does not belong to any political party.
'Considering the importance of the office of the Headman and that his ever presence in the village is highly required, the association earnestly appeals to all political parties/organisations involved in the abduction to release AS Wungtem without any harm immediately,' stated the ATCAM release.
The association further appealed to all concerned not to cause any disturbance to any village chief/headman on political ground in the interest of peaceful administration of village.
