Public parking places regulated in city

With view to achieve proper regulation of traffic and ensure minimum public parking facility in the vicinity of Khwairamband Bazar area following declaration of Thangal Bazar, Paona Bazar, MG Avenue areas and BT Road as No Parking Zones, the Directorate of Transport, Government of Manipur has designated some particular areas/spaces as Public Parking Places (PPP) temporarily and on trial basis.
According to an order issued by Director of Transport BK Sharma, the areas which have been declared PPP include the space measuring 100 metres x 3.5 metres on the southern road side of Sagolband Road leaving 15 metres from the Traffic Point and starting from Pharmacy upto the front of Aryan Theatre, Wahengbam Leikai Junction along NH-37 as well as the space in front of the northern side of Electricity Office, BJP Office and the space measuring 50 metres x 3.5 metres along the western road side of Keishampat Junction (i.e.near Churachandpur Parking.
Other areas which have been notified as PPP are the space available in and around Pologround Maning Parking; by-lane behind Kakhulong, Paona Bazar; the stretch along the Masjid Road, Paona Bazar; the stretch starting from Diamond Crossing to Image Lab shop, Governor Road; the space available at the eastern portion of Naga Nulah, north of Babuthong, erstwhile Pushi Keithel; the stretch along the eastern side of Kalibari Temple, Majorkhul; the by-lane opposite Gay Lord Hotel upto the entry of Majorkhul, Thangal Bazar; the space available around the Pond located in front of the northern side of Imphal Hospital, RIMS Road; the space available in front of Adharsh Clinic along NH-39; the space available in front of PWD upto LIC gate along NH-39; the roadside space available in the eastern side of Nagamapal Road and the two connecting by-lane road from Pologround towards Governor Road to Leima Shopping complex.
The order explained that declaration of PPP along RIMS Road is felt not feasible technically.
However, considering the heavy demand of parking because of dropping/picking of patients/patient parties along the entire stretch of RIMS Road, maximum duration of 10 minutes for parking of two-wheeler vehicles/LMVs at a time may be allowed in front of any establishment and each establishment located along RIMS Road is to appoint/arrange a supervision mechanism under intimation to the Director of Transport and the District Police Authority (Imphal West), particularly the Deputy SP (Traffic), Imphal West, Manipur.
Further, the order declared RIMS Road as one-way traffic point from east to west u/s 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 with immediate effect and until further order.
