Imphal, July 27 2017:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has urged the State Government to rein in militants of SoO groups who have been violating SoO ground rules wilfully .
Speaking at the Integrity Protection Day observed today at Manipur Press Club under the aegis of ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak, UCM president E Johnson said that the State Government needs to re-evaluate whether the Chin-Kuki-Mizo militant groups which signed SoO pact in 2008 have been abiding by the agreement's ground rules or not .
A large number of villagers fled from their homes after two militant groups under SoO pact clashed against each other in 2010.Recently, a young girl was shot dead by a cadre of a SoO group at Moreh.
The State Government needs to take serious note of these disturbing incidents, Johnson said .
All designated camps of SoO groups should be shifted from border areas and their cadres should not be allowed to move out with arms .
The Government of India should not talk with NSCN-IM alone.
People of Nagaland and other insurgent groups of Nagaland should be taken on board, Johnson said .
The political dialogue going on between Government of India and NSCN-IM would be resisted at all cost if it infringes upon the collective interest of Manipur .
After a massive civil movement, the controversial clause 'without territorial limit' was removed on July 27, 2001 from the ceasefire agreement signed between Government of India and NSCN-IM on June 14 same year .
It is in commemoration of this people's victory that ACOAM Lup has been observing Integrity Protection Day on July 27 every year .
ACOAM Lup president Ksh Somorendro, PANDAM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, IPSA president Kh Chingkhei, UCM president E Johnson, Kanglamei president Y Leirikleima and Kanglei Ima Lup president RK Sanahanbi were seated on the dais at the commemorative function .
The gathering also observed silence for two minutes in honour of the 18 people killed in the June 2001 civil movement.
