Imphal, August 24:
The Janata Dal (Secular) has today charged that the failure on the part of the Governor to clear the economic blockade on the national highways which has been enforced for nearly a month reflects the total failure of the administrative set up in the State.
In a statement, the political party said the failure of the Governor to clear the blockade may be interpreted as supporting the blockade on the highways by a Naga organization.
It also decried the blockade.
The All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association said ever since PR was imposed three months back, the State has been gripped by one crisis after, the other with no sign of any sincere effort from the Government to tackle the problems.
In a statement the teachers' body said that prices have sky rocketed following the economic blockade and fuel is not available.
The two Advisors to the Governor have also failed on all fronts and administrative work has collapsed, said the statement.
Even the much trumpeted announcement that the CBI would be roped in has also become a non starter and even there are reports of some files missing pertaining to the fake appointments cases.
The statement said that it would be better if a care taker Government is installed and an expert committee set up to assist the Government, said the teachers' body.
The Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress has also stated that the silence maintained by the Governor over the economic blockade is abhorrent, and added that the lackadaisical approach of the Governor and the NDA Government has left the people disillusioned.
Stating that the Governor is better to resign if he cannot govern the State, the Youth Congress said it would soon launch a series of agitation.
Communist Party of India, Konthoujam Local Council has also flayed the Government for its inept handling of the overall situation prevalent in the State.
A press release of the party said that authorities have been turning a blind eye on the serious threat to the livelihood of the people due to .prolonged imposition of economic blockade.
It demanded consultations with the organization responsible for the economic blockade.
The blockade has led to a number of vehicles and drivers stranded at many vulnerable places and fuel stocks in the State is at its abysmal level, the release said.
Despite such grave situation in the State the Government has not taken any positive measure to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel and other essentials, the release further added.
