Imphal, August 24:
In continuation of its downsizing policy, the state government has abolished with immediate effect a further 28 posts in the directorate of information and public relations, DIPR.
An order to this effect was issued by the secretary, DIPR, K Buddhachandra Singh, dated August 22, 2001.the 28 posts abolished are all vacant posts, and include one post each of a account officer, assistant movie cameraman, light assistance (video), dark room assistant (C/Lab), artist, motor mechanic, computer programmer, Gestetner operator and radio mechanic, nine posts of LDC, eight posts of chowkidar/peon/sweeper and two posts of driver.
This brings to 1139 the total number of posts abolished in various departments so far, including 108 in the PWD, 935 in the schools education department, 47 in the PHED department and 21 in the forest department.
In addition, the same government order has specified that another 45 posts in the DIPR would be abolished from the date the present incumbent vacates the posts on account of retirement, expiry or termination.
