Imphal, August 19:
Three apex student bodies, AMSU, MSF and DESAM have declared an emergency and asked all the students to be ready to teach the 60 (59) MLAs of the State as well as the three MPs a fitting lesson for not responding to the cries of the people but serving the interest of Delhi.
In a statement, the students lampooned the Chief Minister for disposing off the body of P Chittaranjan though an understanding was reached earlier that the body of the late student leader would be cremated on August 19 after paying due respects and homage.
Instead of respecting the sentiments of the people, the political leaders, who are more keen on clinging on to their chair, disposed off the body of Chittaranjan late in the night, robbing the family members of their right to pay their last respect to the departed soul, said the statement.
The demand of the people is the complete revocation of AFSPA and punishment of the killers of Jamkholet Khongsai and Th Manorama and though two persons have already laid down their lives for the cause of the people, the Govt still remains, unmoved, said the students and asked all to be on the alert, to teach the political leaders a lesson, they will not forget.
The student bodies also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members and vowed that the fight against the injustice of the Government will go on unhindered.
Far from listening to the cries and anguish of the people, the Government has turned all the people of Manipur into targets for rubber bullets and tear gas shells, charged the students and added under the AFSPA, many have been widowed, many robbed of their modesty and many more orphaned.
