Imphal, January 18 2009:
The Social Action Committee Yaiskul has threatened to close the road from Krishna Premi Oil Pump to Keishamthong if the repairing/development work of the road is not completed by January 20 .
Decrying the failure of the Government to complete the road development work despite repeated appeals and reminders of the people of Yaiskul, the local people staged a protest sitting on the road thereby blocking it.
Moreover, a new body christened Social Action Committee was also formed today.
The Committee later organised a public meeting and adopted several resolutions.
One of the primary resolution was to close the road from Krishna Premi Oil Pump to Keishamthong from January 21 in case the road development work is not completed by January 20 .
Other resolutions include putting an immediate halt to trimming branches of Sana Khongnang which is reportedly the abode of Heisnam Lairembi as well as felling and trimming other trees in connection with expansion of NH 39 .
Observing that retaining wall constructed along Imphal river bank from 1st MR Gate to Hicham Yaichampat has several holes in joints, the meeting demand repairing of the retaining wall before onset of rainy season.
Decrying that crematorium of Yaiskul locality and the road leading to it have been removed following expansion of NH 39 , the meeting resolved to urge upon the Government to built an alternative crematorium at the earliest.
It also decided to launch intense forms of agitation in case the Government fails to take up necessary actions to address the woes of the people within 15 days.
