In an apparent demonstratin of solidarity against UGs' constant monetary demands, the villagers of Tiger Camp today stopped a family from leaving the locality due to repeated monetary demands.
The family which is under constant threat from Kuki UG groups is of one Kshetrimayum Herobi (35) of the area under Lamlai Police Station.
Apart from Herobi's wife and his two children, he is living together with his brother Apabi and his wife and three children.
As the armed KNA set the deadline at 8 am today pay Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand, the family decided to leave the place before they face any untoward incident.

However, nearly 200 villagers of the locality decided to stand with the family against all these threats and requested them to stay back.
Meeting with the media persons, Herobi's wife Langlen (30) this evening said that two tribal youths came to their house demanding an amount of Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand, which beyond their means.
As they did not have that much money, the family did not give anything that day, Langlen said and added that the youths returned yesterday at around 2:10 pm and asked for the wherebouts of her husband Herobi.
As Langlen did not tell the exact place where her husband had been, one of the youths took out a pistol and snatched her mobile phone, she said and added that when she pleaded that the family does not have that much money, the youths asked to give whatever they have at that time.
She gave Rs 5000 to the youths, Langlen said and added that after taking the amount, the youths once again asked to clear the remaining amount by 8 am of July 16 .
As the family does not have any money to give the UGs, they decided to leave the locality.
However, around 200 villagers of the area comprising of different communities of Meiteis, Muslims and Nepalis stopped them showing solidarity to the worried family.
Langlen also said that her brother Inao (22) was released by KRA (U) last April after giving a ransom amount of Rs 30,000 by the family.
Tiger Camp Development Committee general secretary Th Okendro said that the villagers of the whole locality would man the family till a negotiation is arrived.
The secretary also urged the concerned UG group not to make such huge unbearable demands to the family.
Conveying that the family is not that wealthy as presumed by the UGs, Th Okendra said that the family is just a normal middle class family which owns only a Jeep passenger service.
