Outgoing Governor of manipur Dr SS Sidhu visited Kangla Fort and witnessed replica of the mystical Kanglashas being developed/sculpted inside the historic site.
Moreover, Dr Sidhu also inspected Shree Shree Govindajee Temple of Kangla which is currently under renovation for restoration to its original shape and grandeur, said a release issued by the Governor's Secretariat while adding that he also visited Brindavanchandra Temple which was the exclusive worship site of Bir Tikendrajit.
Commissioner (Art & Culture) P Bharat and high ranking officials of other departments accompanied Dr Sidhu and guided him around various development activities being taken up inside the sprawling complex.
A book entitled 'Kangla' which is edited by Padmashree N Khelchandra Singh, Sapam Bheigya and S Rupoban Singh was presented to the Governor, the release informed.
Other places visited by the Governor included the Gurudwara at Thangal bazar where he offered prayers as well as religious/sacred sites located within Shree Shree Govindajee Temple in Palace Compound.
Meanwhile, Dr SS Sidhu was given a farewell in an impressive function at IGAR (S) on July 15 during which senior officials of the State/Central Govt, distinguished citizens and senior army and AR officers were also present, said a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) today.
According to the statement, IGAR (S) Maj Gen AK Choudhary in his address praised the Governor for the latter's contribution in promoting peace, development and harmony in the State.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor is informed to have applauded the Assam Rifles in helping civil administration in maintaining law and order in the State in addition to hailing that Assam Rifles as true sentinels of
North East.
On the otherhand, about 100 cadets from Sainik School, imphal called on the Governor at Rajbhavan yesterday and had an interaction during which Dr Sidhu advised them (cadets) to aim for excellence through hard work, dedication and sincerity of purpose and to choose harder option when confronted with choice between easy and difficult one, added a separate PIB statement.
