A five year old girl was rescued from the hands of two women by the timely action of the AMADA.
The two persons were trying to take the girl to Nagaland.
The girl is a daughter of Sanasam Bihari (31) and Sanasam Rebita (20) of Ningthoukhong ward no 3.The two child traffickers are identified Yaikhom Sanahanbi (43) w/o Y Ibochou alias Ibohal of Mayang Langjing and Laishram Kumari (34) w/o Laishram Tolamu of Mayang Langjing.
Sanahanbi originally belongs to Kohima and is a Naga woman while Kumari belongs to Ningthoukhong.
Briefing media persons at AMADA head office today, mother of the girl Rebita said on the request of Kumari that she would adopt the child as her own, they (Rebita and Kumari) took the girl to Mayang Langjing.
However, on arriving at Mayang Langjing, Kumari divulged that she was not adopting the girl.
She suggested that let Sanahanbi's younger sister who resides at Kohima adopt the girl.
Saying this, Kumari gave Rs 1000 to Rebita.
But Rebita refused the money and raised strong objection against taking her child to another State.
Nevertheless, Kumari persuaded Rebita and kept the child with her.
On May 7, Kumari brought the child to Ningthoukhong only to take back the girl to Mayang Langjing saying that she keep the child with her a few more days, Rebita recounted.
After some days, Rebita asked Kumari to bring back her child.
However, Kumari refused to bring back the child and this prompted Bihari and Rebita to file a complaint to AMADA.
Sanahanbi who also present at the press meet said that on the request of Mallu w/o Hakipo who resides at Kachitsingnu village, located about 35 kms away from Kohima, she gave Rs 1000 to Kumari to search for a girl child for adoption.
Sanahanbi was given Rs 2000 by Mallu to find a girl child, she disclosed.
Ph Abe Chanu of AMADA said that acting on the complaint of the girl's parents, AMADA activists managed to pull up Kumari and Sanahanbi on May 14 and the girl child was also rescued.
Bihari who is a Shaktiman truck driver said that he could not believe that some women were plotting to traffic his daughter to another State.
He also called upon all prevent such child trafficking attempts in future.
In line with the principle of the AMADA, Kumari and Sanahanbi have been given proper counselling and the child handed over to her parents.
