Imphal, October 13 2015:
The United Committee, Manipur (UCM) observed the last day of the annual ritual Langban Heitha Leitha today at the Great June Uprising Memorial complex hall, Kekrupat with the offering of floral tributes to the martyrs of the 2001 Great June Uprising at Kekrupat.
Speaking to mediapersons, UCM president Elangbam Johnson said the ritual is observed every year to remember and honour the sacrifices of the martyrs in the Great June Uprising.

UCM along with AMUCO and other organisations have recently launched a movement that would focus on the common future of Manipur.
The committee, the UCM president said, is set to take forward the movement in different areas of the State in a day or two.
Commenting on hearsays of NSCN(IM) recruiting fresh cadres from hill districts of the State like Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel, the UCM president said the committee cannot help but mull over the role of State Government and the Centre in the process as both the State and the Centre have opted to remain silent on the matter.
Expressing fears that the news, if true, can upset communal harmony in the State, Johnson appealed to the State Government and Centre to take serious note of the issue.
He further went on to urge the Government of India to ban the outfit in Manipur as a necessary measure.
Expressing disappointment with the way Kangla Fort Board has been managing the Kekrupat Memorial complex, Johnson said that other than during the two-three days before and after June 18 observation, the complex remains swallowed in grasses and weeds entirely.
The State Government must come up with a policy to convert the Kekrupat Memorial into a park or a tourist destination, the UCM president said.
