Imphal, October 13 2015:
Maiba Hanba of Utra Shanglen Sana Konung (Royal Palace), Samjetsabam Kondumba has earnestly appealed all on Tuesday to stop 'indiscriminate use' of traditional 'Sekpil' .
The royal priest said the kingdom of Manipur had four different phirals (flags) and Sekpil was one of them.
As per the long-established customary usage, Phiran Chingdumbi is normally used in Keiren Keijao which was also presented as an award to great warriors by the kings, Kondumba said.

He said the sacred Sekpil is used in religious ceremonies and it is a time-honoured tradition and practice of Manipur.
There are also certain rules on the use of Sekpil, the priest added.
Indiscriminate use of Sekpil at festive events and other programmes is a wrongly motivated practice, the royal priest said and appealed to everyone to respect the holy Sekpil.
