Spokesperson of the MLAs and MPs Forum Dr L Chandramani today stated that the assurance by the Prime Minister yesterday that the ceasefire agreement would be reviewed by July 31 is the first stepping stone towards realizing the aspirations and goals of the Manipuri people to safeguard the territorial integrity.
Evincing firm hope that the Centre would revoke the ceasefire by July 31, Chandramani said the assurance of the Prime Minister was given in the presence of Home Minister LK Advani, MoS for Home Affairs ID Swami, PM�s Advisor Brajesh Mishra and Home Secretary Kamal Pandey.
Dr Chandramani on the behalf of the MLAs and MPs Forum expressed gratitude to all the Manipuri people for showing restraint and communal harmony in the agitation against the ceasefire extension.
He also said the Forum stands by the wishes and aspirations of the people.
Senior BJP leader MLA and chairman of the All Political Party Forum, Haobam Bhuban has hailed the decision of Centre to review the ceasefire agreement, including the words �without territorial limits�.
Praising Vajpayee�s willingness to visit Manipur to take stock of situation, Haobam Bhuban urged him to come to Imphal after the General Musharaff�s visit but before the Parliament session which is slated to start from July 23. Bhuban asked the PM to instruct the State administration not to provoke violence by over react against the protestors.
The State Council of the CPI said that the announcement of the Centre to review the ceasefire agreement will not placate the hurt sentiments of the people.
