Imphal, July 09:
Hardly impressed by the Centres decision to review the ceasefire agreement with the NSCN (IM), the AMSU leaders, who are at present incarcerated in the Sajiwa jail, have reiterate that they will launch a secessionist movement if any decision of the government of India howsoever involves a threat to the territorial integrity of Manipur.
while welcoming the Prime Ministers announcement yesterday evening that the ceasefire agreement would be reviewed, the leaders, in a press release issued from the inside the jail, said though the Central government seems to have taken in to some extent the sentiments of the people of Manipur, the decision can not as of now make the AMSU change its stand since its demands are not yet met.
It is still doubtful that the government of India is reviewing the ceasefire agreement with probity.
The AMSU regards the democratic values of a popularly elected government.
However, since there were several occasions of sell-out by the Central government in the past, the people of Manipur can not convince themselves that the governments position after the review will turn out to favour their interest, said the release.
What is necessary at the moment is for the government to fully inform the people of the decision to be taken by it in the event the NSCN (IM) declines to review the agreement.
The government must also take a firm resolution to carry out its public assurances to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur by effecting Constitutional amendments.
But before it all, the ceasefire with NSCN (IM) must be withdrawn from Manipur, said the release.
