A free medical camp was organised today by 15 Assam Rifles at Lungthar village in Senapati district located near Nongpok Sekmai in Thoubal district.
A team of doctors led by a Medical Officer of 15 AR conducted the medical camp organised under AR's Civic Action Programme.
A large number of villagers from Lungthar and surrounding villages such as Sadar Kumbi, Phalangkang, Irot, Ingourok, Kharal, Luirang, Heingangrok, etc.
Chief of Lungthar village H Mingthing Hungyo, who came for check-up of his health, told reporters that there is no health centre in the villages from where the people were coming for check-up and treatment at the free medical camp.
The Assam Rifles, which conducted a free medical camp to check the health of and treat the villagers even if it is for a single day only, are like God to the villagers, he said.
Post Commander of 15 AR, Lungthar village, Maj GK Pathak said, the people of these villages have been facing a lot of hardship due to lack of medical care.
