Manipur State Kala Akademi today conferred its first Life Time Achievement Award to MK Binodini.
State Governor, Gurbachan Jagat handed over the award to the noted writer though his youngest son Somi Roy at a function at JN Dance Academy.
The award instituted by the Akademi was conferred to MK Binodini in recognition of her contributions towards promotion of music, film and literature.
It is the matter of satisfaction that the Akademi has very rightly selected MK Binodini for honouring her with the Life Time Achievement Award this year, Governor Gurbachan Jagat said addressing the gathering at the award distribution function.
He said "Such efforts of the Akademi have really added a significance and provided requisite recognition to the outstanding scholars and artistes, for which I complement to MSKA.
I do which MK Binodini good health and long life besides congratulating her on this occasion.
Maharaj Binodini Devi, who is popularly known as MK Binodini is a multifaceted personality, particularly in the fields of literature and music.
She was born on February 7, 1922 to Maharaj Churachand Singh and Maharani Dhanamanjuri of Manipur, the youngest of the five princesses.
RK Jhaljit who presided over the function said that MK Binodini is not only a renowned writers of the state but of the country.
Her first short story "Nungairakta Chandramukhi" had given a great influence to him.
Manipuri language is among the 172 noted languages.
The language will never die.
The contributions made by MK Binodini in the development of the language will be remembered forever.
It is pertinent to mention that MK Binodini is ailing and laying at the bad, her youngest son Somi Roy received the award in place of her mother.
The award consisted of a cash award of Rs 1 lakh, citation and a memento.
