NPO calls 24 hours general strike over frequent transfer of officers

Imphal, June 26 2018:
Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO) and other district frontal bodies hae called 24 hour total shut down in Senapati district on June 27 starting from 6 am to 6 am to the next day.
A press statement by the NPO said that the total shut is being called to demonstrate their displeasures against the Government of Manipur for frequent transfer and posting of the officers in the district such as DC, SP HOD etc.
which is being a regular trend and detrimental to peace and development in the district.
The statement further said that the most recent transfer of SP M Pradip Singh , IPS after 4 months and was replaced by Hopson Sapam MPS as incharged SP of the district.
The NPO said that Senapati was without a full fledged SP since August 2017 to January 2018 .
The NPO statement also added that Senapati being adistrict neighbouring other state is prone to law and order problems.
The state should not act without the rhymes and reasons and wantonly transfer the officers at their whims like tossing of volley balls or chess pawns to edge political mileage.
The statement said that education institute, Electrivity, Water supply, medical , Media and paramilitary will be exempted during the total shut down.
