Five UG cadres surrender

Five cadres of three different UG outfits have laid down arms and surrendered to Border Security Force (BSF).
In a �home-coming' ceremony held today at Loktak Tactical Headquarters of 116th Bn BSF today, the five militants laid down arms before BSF Manipur and Cachar Frontier IG Anup Chand Thapliyal and BSF Manipur and Cachar Frontier DIG (G) SC Budakoti.
The five militants who surrendered today were Thonglal alias James of Aina village, Henglep sub-division, Churachandpur district, Tungdim Khaiminthang alias Khamlenmang of Tulaphai village, Churachandpur district, Thangkhogin Simte of Zoutung village, Churachandpur district, Md Akhtar alias Babul of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai, Imphal East district and Rabi alias Athouba of Sekmaijin, Thoubal district.
While the first three were said to be Corporals of UNLF, the fourth was a cadre of PULF and the fifth was said to be Corporal of KCP-MC.
They brought along one lethod gun with one live shell, three magazines, three 9 mm pistols containing three live rounds each, two hand grenades and one walkie-talkie set.
Speaking at the occasion, IG Anup Chand Thapliyal while welcoming the former militants to the mainstream, assured their families that BSF would extend all possible assistance and financial benefits to be given as per policy laid down by the Government of India and the Government of Manipur.
