One killed, 20 hurt in mishap

Imphal, January 31, 2012:
At least one SSB personnel has been killed while around 20 other personnel sustained injuries when the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident and fell into a gorge in Nagaland.
On the other hand, one Manipur bound oil tanker fell into another gorge along NH 2 and caught fire inside Nagaland.
The driver and his assistant could not be located as yet.
According to information received at Imphal, a passenger bus (MN-01A/5882) in which the SSB personnel were travelling fell into a gorge at Piphema in Nagaland this morning.
The SSB personnel were going towards Dimapur railway station after election duty in Manipur.
The mishap claimed one SSB personnel while 20 others sustained injuries and they have been taken to hospitals in Dimapur.
Identity of the deceased victim could not be identified at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, one Manipur bound oil tanker (AS-03AC/3500) fell into another gorge at Jakhama (near the ascent point to Dzuko) and caught fire resulting in a devastating fire.
The mishap happened at about 4 am today.
The ill-fated oil tanker was heading for Imphal after loading from NRL, Numaligarh.
On learning about the mishap, Nagaland Police and fire-fighters rushed to the site.
But driver of the oil-tanker Sukumar Borah and his assistant PT Gogoi could not be located.
Both the driver and his assistant as well as the oil-tanker's owner belong to Jorhat.
