Even as a suspect has been picked up in connection with the ghastly incident of drawing out blood from a young boy's head by an unidentified person using syringe, All manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has shouldered responsibility for looking after medical requirement of the victim.
The suspect picked up by a team of yairipok police station at around 2.30 pm today has been identified as Md Mujibur (18) s/o Md Habibur of Yairipok Phouden.
The police had reportedly narrowed down on Mujibur as a suspect in the case on ground that the 18 year old's father had been complaining to the police regarding his ward's belligerent behaviour.
According to police source, Mujibur would be paraded before the victim boy for identification and if his involvement could be authenticated punishment
as per law would be initiated.
Denouncing Mujibur's detention number of people staged protest at near the entrance of Yairipok police station thereby resulting in the security personnel resorting to baton-charge to disperse the mob.
A woman identified as Miss Honda alias Zenik (17) of Yairipok Phouden Indigo Road was reportedly injured in the police action.
Confirming report of the ghastly act of drawing blood from the boy while speaking to media-persons today, secretary (Drive Committee) of AMADA head office K Meghachandra identified the victim as Sukham Akash Meetei (7) s/o S Shyamkeshore of Yairipok Phouden Keirembi in Thoubal district.
Detailing the incident, Akash said he saw a youth running towards him from the direction of a nearby paddy field when he was walking home from school at around 1.30 pm yesterday.
Even as Akash vociferously protested the youth's attempt to pull him towards a dug-out on the roadside along the Moirangpalli road the attacker forcibly took the boy into an isolated spot and inserting a syringe drew blood from the head area before taking to his heels as the boy began to cry aloud.
On the otherhand, Meghachandra informed that Akash has been ruled out of danger after he (Akash) was taken for treatment/medication at JN Hospital today.
Meghachandra also appealed to all concerned to extend their level best cooperation in apprehending the guilty.
In another case, AMADA functionaries informed of apprehending two youths on charges of selling/abusing pharmaceutical substances like spasmo proxyvon and Nitrosun-10, also known as N-10.The youths have been identified as Laishram Boboi alias Sushil (28) of Keishamthong Jailor Leirak and Chongtham Chandrakumar (22) of Singjamei Thongam Leikai.
A total of 238 piece of SP capsules and 20 piece of N-10 tablets have been recovered from Boboi who is said to have been apprehended in the past as well.
