While taking up construction and improvement of roads in different parts of the State, the 25 Bn BRTF is vigorously carrying out Improvement and Quality Pavement (IQP) works along National Highway-53 as well.
The ongoing IQP works, considered to be the best road quality having 10 centimetre thickness has been completed upto 46 kms from Imphal on the NH-53 section, said the BRTF Commander MA Raja during an exclusive chat with The Sangai Express at his Lamphel office chamber today.
Stating that the Task Force is taking utmost care to maintain the highway from Imphal to Barak covering 145 kms and from Barak till Silchar entrusted to the 36 Bn BRTF, Raja said "We have covered IQP works to a distance of 46 kms with double-laning and we are targeting to complete the same work upto our jurisdiction within three years".
Commenting on the work programme on the NH-150 connecting Jessami to Tipaimukh via Churachandpur, the BRTF official conveyed of the ongoing work being taken up from two points one from Churachandpur to Tipaimukh (262 kms) and the other from Yaingangpokpi to Jessami (170 kms).
State PWD is informed to be handling the task of road construction in between Yaingangpokpi till churachandpur district headquarters via Imphal.
He also maintained that the task force has completed black topping upto 60 kms from churachandpur district headquarters towards Tipaimukh while exuding confidence of covering the entrusted distance by next year as technical viability of carrying out the task had already been done.
One additional unit of BRO's Setuk Project from Meghalaya is already stationed at Churachandpur to expeditious complete the task, he said while adding that another platoon from 15 BRTF (Kohima) has arrived at Tuilaphai.
As many as 15 vehicles including tippers, three road rollers and one crusher among other machineries are being utilised at the work sites, Raja detailed and confided that as there is no threat from any quarter the Task force had been able to execute the works without any hindrances.
The Battalion would take up double lanning works along yaingangpokpi to Jessami by next year, he expressed and confided that official process are on to take charge of National Highway from the State PWD.
