Imphal, October 24:
Stating that the act of destroying betel leaves and tobacco products at Kakching Keithel yesterday was a positive response from the people, the proscribed RPF has hailed the action as befitting of more advanced sections of the society.
The statement is not inspired by the observation that the activity was in support of RPF's ban against such tobacco products betel leaves (mitha patta), said the outfit's Assistant Secretary of Communication and Publicity Lily Leima in a press release.
The RPF conveyed its sincere gratitude to the shopkeepers of Kakching Bazar, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association and others who volunteered to dispose the tobacco products which are harmful to health without considering for the monetary loss.
The RPF also claimed the responsibility for eliminating Anilkumar Saha who stayed in a rented room at Kakching.
He was an agent of zarda, kheini, talap mitha patta and other tobacco products.
He was eliminated last evening for his obstinacy against the repeated warnings of the outfit to desist from dealing in such 'banned products'.
The outfit asserted that it would be wiser for all the agents and those dealing in such banned products to surrender to the outfit otherwise they will face unwanted consequences if they continue to treat precious lives with zarda and kheini.
Death penalty has already been awarded.
