The Kuki Liberation Army (KLA/KLO) has banned Miss Kut contest in this year's Chavang Kut festival.
A statement issued KLA's Information and Publicity secretary Malsawm Kuki accused the Kut Organising Committee of giving undue to importance to Miss Kut contest while sidelining the cultural aspects and traditional themes of the festival.
While extending best wishes to the peoples of Chin-Kuki-Mizo groups on the eve of Chavang Kut, the KLA asked the Kut Organising Committee to give due importance to cultural programmes.
Saying that there will be no alternative warning, the KLA cautioned the organising committee not to organise beauty contest as a part of Kut festival.
On the other hand, the outfit in an effort to reform the scattered KLA/KLO organisation has appointed Zamdil Kuki as convenor for the time being.
In this connection, all the KLA/KLO comrades have been intimated to report at its Hqs Zion Camp before October 27 without fail, added the release.
