Imphal, October 24:
One individual who used to deal in tobacco products like zarda, kheini, talap etc against the prohibition of RPF and the people, has surrendered to the outfit along with a large quantity of tobacco items.
According to a spokesperson of RPF's Department of Communication and Publicity, the individual is identified as one Maibam Sunil (35) s/o Ganga Khuman of Pangei Waiton.
Sunil runs a shop along ngari stalls near Kasturi bridge Imphal.
On receiving information that Sunil used to supply tobacco products like khaini, zarda, talap etc to small shops and retailers, he was pulled up by party cadres.
Confessing that he used to deal in such banned tobacco products, Sunil surrendered 4 cartons of zarda, kheini and talap, conveyed the spokesperson.
The market value of these products is estimated to be Rs 20,000 approximately.
Saying that Sunil will be set free this time after proper counselling, the spokesperson warned that Sunil should accept whatever punishment given to him by the party in case he is found dealing in the 'banned tobacco products' ever again.
The surrendered tobacco products were later consigned to flames at a place in Imphal West district.
