The Tiddim Road Athletic Union today organised a Wakat Meepham at Kwakeithel Bazar today demanding safe release of three officials of Public Health Engineering Department who have been abducted by proscribed outfit KRA.
The protestors informed that Laishram Ibomcha Singh who is among the abducted officials is not only an Executive Engineer of PHED but also a social worker who had contributed his mite in promotion of games and sports among the youths as an executive member of Tiddim Road Athletic Union, Kwakeithel.
The protestors urged the abductors to release the abducted officials on humanitarian ground and give them a chance to rectify themselves if they have ever committed any mistakes inthe past.
The whereabouts of three officials abducted by the proscribed outfit have not been known till today.
On the other hand, a protest demonstration was also staged at Singjamei Thokchom Leikai in protest against the grenade attack by unidentified persons at the Singjamei Thokchom Leikai residence of SE of IFCD Khumanthem Ashokumar in the evening of October 22.
The protest demonstration was organised jointly by the Youth Welfare Organisation, Singjamei Thokchom Leikai and Nupi Yaipha Chaokhat Thourang Lup.
The protestors used placards with slogans decrying attack on private residences of officials and creating a fear psychosis among the people.
Meanwhile, police sources clarified that the grenade attack by unidentified persons at the Singjamei Thokchom Leikai residence of Additional CJM RK Memcha on the evening of October 22 was not on the ACJM herself but it is suspected that the attack might be on her husband identified as Khumanthem Ashokumar who is an SE in IFCD in connection with some monetary demand.
Body disposal: The body of the suspected underground activist who was shot dead by 18 Assam Rifles during an encounter on October 18 at Lamlong under Tengnoupal PS in Chandel district would be handed over to Imphal Municipality tomorrow as the body could not be identified and no one has come to claim it.
All the necessary documents for disposal of the body has been issued by the District Magistrate concerned.
However, some people who came to the mortuary of RIMS reportedly told that the slain UG might be a person from Chakpikarong and they left by saying that his mother would be brought tomorrow for identification.
