The voluntary health unit which was opened in the RIMS hospital campus with a view to provide assistance to the injured persons of June 18 movement has so far collected a sum of Rs 1,30,141 donated by individuals and organisations.
After the death of Th Biren of Singjamei Chinga Makha today, altogether eight bullet-injured persons are now being given assistance by the unit.
One of them is reportedly undergoing treatment at the Shija Hospital and Research Institute.
The unit has also extended assistance to the victims being treated at JN Hospital apart from the victims on treatment at the RIMS Hospital.
From its collection, the unit donated an amount of Rs 20000 to the relief committee at the JN Hospital today.
Its was reported that Dr Pallin of the Shija Hospital and Research Institute has provided an ambulance to the unit which has in its disposal 15 active volunteers led by convenor M Subhaschandra.
According to the unit, altogether eight blood donors have volunteered to donate blood for emergency.
Meanwhile, altogether 32 persons including women are said to have donated blood at the relief camp set up at the JN Hospital.
In Shamurou, residents belonging to different communities today organized a mass campaign for donation to the relief fund for victims of cease-fire opposition of June 18 last.
Hundreds of people in Shamurou area took part in the rally which began from Shamurou bazar and snaked through Shamurou area of Houreibi Chankhong till and Nahagou bazar.
People came out of their respective homes to join the rally and donated money.
Around Rs 80,000 were collected in small changes for the relief fund of those injured in the incident.
Some also offered to donate blood for those who require blood.
Among them are Md Anwar Hussain, Heirangoi Wangma Makha Leikai, L Prem, Shamurou bazar, M Loken, Shamurou Awang Leikai, Oinam Tikendrajit Shamurou Mayai Leikai.
