The State Government has given the nod to the College of Medical Sciences, Bishnupur and with the recognition granted; the first semester classes will begin from the first week of September this year, informed the secretary of College Society, Kh Deba.
Speaking to newsmen, Kh Deba said the State Government had given permission to the College of Medical Sciences on March 23 last year and process to be affiliated to MU so that classes can resume by September this year is nearing completion.
The institution has also received favorable responses from the banks to grant guarantee so that recognition from the Medical Council of India may be obtained.
The College is registered under the Manipur Societies Registration Act and stands on a 29.5 acre campus.
Set up in 1998 the college closed down for some time and but is set to reopen from September this year as due permissions have been granted by the State Government, Deba informed.
The principal of the college is Y lbetombi Devi.
Entrance test for admission to the college will be held on August 5 while the total vacancy is 50.General candidates who secured not less than 50 percent marks will be eligible to appear for the entrance test while for the ST/SC candidates the eligibility is 45 percentage.
The College will not charge capitation fees, nomination fees, semester fees and hostel fees from the students this year.
The Society will bear 75 percent of the total cost of each student while the remaining 25 percent will be borne by the students.
Practical classes will be conducted at JN hospital.
